Harry was interviewed on our dear friend Ben Umstead’s podcast We Believe in Cinema!

Ben’s heart is as tender as their mind is sharp, and they have been a champion of Pescador since day one. A marvelous interview.

We’re going to London! Pescador will be making its European Premiere in competition at Raindance Film Festival.

AND we have nominations to announce! Alex Wanebo is nominated for Best Performance in a Debut Feature, and Harry Domenico Rossi is nominated for Best Director of a Debut Feature.

You can find tickets to our 6/18 and 6/19 screenings here, along with a lovely review by Mickey La Rosa.

Here’s a taste of the review:

Crafting an enigmatic tale of desperate siblings, this feature debut signals the arrival of a new talent, Harry Domenico Rossi. Drawing on the personal story of a near-death experience, Rossi blends elements of magical realism – with touches of Beasts of the Southern Wild (Benh Zeitlin, 2012) – into the drama with striking efficiency. Dividing the film into two parts allows both narratives to breathe before converging in unexpected, shocking ways. Ultimately, the brother comes to embody that elusive fish – hidden, then found.

Pescador to play in the narrative competition at Lighthouse International Film Festival!

We loved this synopsis from Natalie Caricato:

Set against the lush, untamed landscapes of Costa Rica, Harry Domenico Rossi’s directorial debut is a lyrical exploration of identity, belonging, and the invisible threads that bind us.  Vacillating between mysticism, vivid dreamscapes, and raw, intimate reality, the film follows a sister and a brother who stand at a crossroads: one retreats into isolation, the other reaches out in search of connection. As they navigate dense forests, restless shores, and their own inner wilderness, each is forced to confront what it truly means to be free, to be seen, and to be loved. Drawn from the filmmaker’s own life experiences, the drama takes you on a haunting emotional journey that ultimately asks where salvation truly resides, within ourselves, or in one another?

Pescador wins Peter Brunette Award for Best Director at RiverRun International Film Festival!

Read the official jury statement below:

This award goes to Harry Domenico Rossi. He proved in his debut feature Pescador that ambitious vision is not limited to its scale of production. He brought together a small team and collaborated with communities across Costa Rica to tell a magical story about human connection. Every step was a creative risk that pays off in poetry, especially the lobster. We hope to see more from you as Pescador is clear evidence of a cinematic voice in the making.
